I think little ties are absolutely adorable, and after being inspired by many other blogs, I decided I was going to make one for Justin. (but in my own way) I didn't want to go buy elastic and was pretty sure velcro would last all of two seconds before he pulled it off, so I improvised. I altered an old tie so that it would be the right size for Justin and can just slip over his head just like a regular tie. He wasn't impressed at first, but has decided it's a great chew toy. (so glad I took Jason's advice and washed the tie!) It's totally worth the effort to see how adorable he looks in his little church clothes every sunday.


I'm also in the process of making a quiet book for Justin, but it keeps getting pushed aside for homework and laundry. Currently most of the book only exists as thumbnails in my sketch book, but I did manage to make a couple of flower finger puppets for one of my page ideas the other day. I want to do a lot of finger puppets for the book and was experimenting in how to best make them, so each one is a little different.

He loves playing with them, and they might actually survive since he hates how the felt feels when he tries to eat them. (:e

It's Finally Summer! (well kind of)

Summer is here! Or so we thought. We had like 3 days of beautiful warm sunshine before the rain came back. We're loving any weather now that it's warmer though. Having a beautiful park across the street has been so much fun now that Justin's getting bigger. He wasn't quite sure what to think of the sun at first, but now he's just ecstatic anytime we get to leave the house.




Decided to try the little kid swings over at the park and Justin laughed the whole time. (might have been all the little kids running around that made him smile too)

Visit to Mesa Falls

Just outside of West Yellowstone, Mesa Falls was an absolutely gorgeous way to spend our Memorial Day afternoon. We drove with a couple of friends (Katey Bryce Merril and her husband) to the upper falls then hiked about a mile down to the lower falls. We had some pretty nice weather and it was so beautiful. These falls are two of the last undisturbed waterfalls of consequence here in the west and it was so much fun to get out and smell some fresh mountain air. We strapped Justin into the baby bjorn and Jason packed him around. Let's just say Justin probably had the most fun out of everyone.


Considering Justin's reaction, I'm guessing "fear of bears" is definitely a learned fear. He just stared at it. If it doesn't smile at him, or let him chew on it, he's pretty much disinterested.




It was such a nice trip and made us really excited to go camping when it warms up a little more.
